La termodinámica, su historia y sus implicaciones sociales.

Resumen

A partir de una revisión historiográfica de la termodinámica, este artículo explora en líneas generales las implicaciones sociales que tuvieron las leyes de la termodinámica en el contexto europeo de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX. Examinando ejemplos que van desde debates teológicos hasta programas de reformas sociales, el artículo destaca la importancia de esta ciencia en la configuración del pensamiento social y político de la época.

Abstract

This article starts with a historiographic review of thermodynamics, to broadly explore the social implications that the thermodynamics laws had on the European context in the second half of the XIXth. Century. Cases which go from theological debates to social reform projects are analyzed, highlighting the importance this science had on the configuration of the social and political thought of the epoch.
