La educación griega y los cimientos de la cultura occidental

Resumen

Este ensayo realiza una semblanza de la educación griega en el largo período que va de la época homérica a la época clásica, y lo hace de una manera elogiosa por considerar que la forma y el contenido de dicha educación son dignos de imitación. Quiere exaltar de esta paideia no solamente lo que conquistó para la civilización griega, en la medida en que ésta fue resultado de tal educación, sino también lo que legó y posibilitó para la posterior historia cultural de Occidente.

Greek education and the foundations of the western culture

Abstract

This article makes a description of Greek education throughout the long period that lasts from the Homeric to the classic age, and it does it in a complimentary manner considering that both the form and the contents of such education are worth of emulation. It is willing to honor this paideia not only for what it conquered for the Greek civilization, in the sense that the latter was the result of such education, but also for what it bequeathed to the forthcoming western culture.
