Este texto (sin pretenciones de ensayo) es una invitación a leer El Quijote, no quizás esta noche, o mañana, o el próximo año, pero leerlo en algún momento de la vida. Creo necesario empezar planteando una hipótesis: se pueden considerar clásicas las obras en literartura cuando han sido, son y siguen siendo un asunto no sólo de novelistas y poetas y escritores, teóricos y críticos de la literatura, esto es, del obvio círculo de los especialistas, sino de disciplinas, artes y formas de expresión diversas, y lo que es más importante, cuando han logrado permear de forma incontestable la vida de millones de personas en lenguas diferentes a aquella en la cual fueron escritas, pues su mensaje fundamental forma parte de visiones de mundo.

Abstract

This text (without the pretension of being as essay) is an invitation to read El Quijote, maybe not tonight, or tomorrwow, or next year, but to read it some time in your life. I think it is necessary to stsrt by stating a hypothesis. Different works of literature can be labeled classical when they have been, are and continue to be matter not just of novelist and poets, literature theoristand critics, that is to say, the obvious group of specialist, but a matter of varius disciplines, arts and forms of expression, and, what is the most important thing, when they have been able to enter unquestionably in the lives of millions of people in languages different from that in which they were written, as their basic message makes up part of varyng wolrd views.
